Hebron Board of Education

I am running for a full-term on the Hebron Board of Education.  My experience as a mother with a child in the Hebron school system and as a life-long advocate for children in our state, makes me an excellent candidate for this position. It would be an honor to help the Hebron Board of Education continue its mission of serving families with high quality schools that provide enhanced programming and continued excellence in education.

Working with or on behalf of children has been my life’s purpose. By profession, I work as a children’s policy analyst for the State of Connecticut.  In this role I work with representatives of all branches of government and private groups promoting public policies in the best interests of children, identifying emerging issues and policy trends, and enlisting the support of leaders outside of state government to improve services and policies for children.

Previously I taught first grade at a private school in New London, worked in the investigations unit at the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, and worked at the Connecticut General Assembly’s Commission on Children.

On a more personal note, as a mother of a young daughter I enjoy working with parents and schools on improving literacy outcomes for children, volunteering in my daughter’s classroom and building networks and lasting connections with others in the Hebron community.

Both my personal and professional experience have helped me to understand the importance of teachers and parents working together to provide the best education and outcomes for their children.  If selected for the Board of Education, I would work to ensure that all children are afforded the greatest opportunities.
