Health Coverage for the Unemployed-COBRA
Recession-related job losses are threatening health coverage for many families. To help workers maintain coverage while they are between jobs, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) provides a 65% reduction in the premiums payable by involuntarily terminated workers and their families for continuation coverage under COBRA. This premium reduction will last for up to nine months and applies to those who were involuntarily terminated between 9/10/08 and 12/31/09 and are COBRA eligible. For more information, please contact The U.S. Department of Labor at 1-866-444-3272.
